How to Easily Express Advanced Verbs in English

This tip is, as I said, one of my favorites and it's so, so easy. When you're speaking English, maybe you come to a need a verb – quite an advance verb – that you don't know, and if this happens it can really stop the conversation or prevent you from feeling confident speaking English.  

But the good news is that you have nothing to worry about because if you use this simple tip you can use any verb you want and this is how, all you have to do in English is use the verb "GO" and then make the sound! Make the sound or make the action of the thing you want to describe.  

So let's have a go at using it, shall we?  

In my previous video I taught about "being cold..." and I said, alright if you are cold you go brrr... you shiver, the verb is shiver. If you don't know the verb shiver, say "you go brrr..."

I also say if you have a cold – like I have a cold now – and if you have a cold you "go achooo!"  This morning I went achoo million times. (I sneezed. The verb is sneezed. I sneezed!)

If you don't know the verb sneeze just say I went achoo! Ok we don't need to know the verbs to be able to speak confidently and to maintain a fluent conversation in English.  

Now, the good thing is, what should happen is when you use this construction, the person you are talking to usually says the verb you're looking for.  

So, you could say yeah I went ahhh..... and the other person says "Ah! you yawned?" And you'll say "Yes!" and repeat it! "I yawned". And if you repeat it then you've used it and will be more likely to remember it next time you want the verb.  

So it's a good way to try to learn new verbs and it's a great way to maintain a fluent conversation in English and be confident that the other person will understand you.
