Study English online: Frequently Asked Questions

Here we have answered the most frequently asked questions about our online English classes. If you still have questions, please send us an email using the below contact form, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Can I try one class FREE?

YES!! Click here for more information on how to book your trial class now... FREE!!

What do I need to learn English online with OLA?

If you want you can use a webcam, but it is not compulsory.

How long do the classes last?

The classes last 30 minutes or 50 minutes.

What is your timetable?

We teach 7 days a week from 06:00 to 00:00 (Madrid time).

What level do I need for the online classes?

To get the most out of your online conversation classes, we recommend that you at least know the basics of the language.

Which exams can I prepare with OLA?

We prepare our students for the Cambridge First Certificate, Advanced and Proficiency exams, as well as the TOEFL and IELTS exams.

Are the classes suitable for kids?

Absolutely. We adapt all our classes to the age and level of our students and we have many young learners who are extremely happy with their conversation classes. We encourage parents to attend the free trial lesson to meet one of our teachers and ask any questions they may have.

How many classes per week do you recommend?

We recommend a minimum of 2 classes per week in order to maintain a certain rhythm to your language learning.

However, we have no minimum number of weekly classes that you must take… it all depends on your budget and availability.

Do I have to have a fixed timetable or can I book classes as and when I want?

You decide!

If you want a fixed timetable, with the same teachers at the same times every week:
No problem. We will help you find a timetable that suits you, and then you just need to remember to keep ahead with your bookings, and book in advance!

If you want a completely flexible timetable:
No problem. Just choose the days, times and teachers you see available on the calendar in your student area.

Will I always have the same teacher, or can I try different ones?

We recommend having more than one teacher to help you develop your listening skills as well as your spoken English. However, if you prefer just one teacher (or if you want to try with all of our teachers), that’s fine too! The decision is yours.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can make changes to your classes up to 12 hours before the start of the class. If you cancel your class less than 12 hours before the class, or if you do not attend class without giving us prior notice, you will lose the credit for that class.

What happens if I arrive late to my class?

If you arrive late, you lose the time of that class. For example, if you turn up 20 minutes into a 50-minute class, the class will only last 30 minutes.

What happens if I cannot attend my class due to a technical fault?

If you cannot attend a class due to technical problems at your end, you will lose the credit for that class. If your teacher cannot attend the class due to a technical problem at their end, the credit will be refunded and we will reschedule the class for another time that suits you.

Do you give classes during the school holidays?

Yes, although not all the teachers work during the school holidays.

Do the classes have an expiry date?

Yes. You have one year to use your classes from the date of purchase.

The Monthly Packs have a validity of one month from the date of purchase.

How do I buy my classes?

You can purchase your classes in three ways:

  • Via PayPal from your Student Area.
  • Using your credit / debit card from your Student Area.
  • Via bank transfer to our Spanish account. You just need to send us a copy of the bank transfer via email, and we will add the class credits to your account.

Is there a discount for buying a larger number of classes?

Yes. You can packs of 5, 10, 20 or 40 classes. The more classes you buy, the cheaper they are.

How do I use my Promo Code?

All Promo Codes are used during the booking process, and not during the buying process. Enter your Promo Code when booking a class and the discount will be applied when you confirm the booking.

Can you send me an invoice for my classes?

Yes! Please email us with your company details and we will email you the invoice for your online English classes as soon as possible.

Where can I find my Study Sheet?

Your teacher will share your personalised Study Sheet with you in your first paid class with OLA. Please save this link in your favourites. If you lose the url, just ask any one of our teachers and they will be happy to share the link with you again via Skype

I want to cancel a class. How can I let my teacher know?

Please cancel your class from the student area of our website (click My bookings, select the class you want to cancel, and click Cancel class). When you cancel a class, your teacher will receive an email immediately confirming the cancellation, so you don’t need to worry about letting him or her know.

How many credits do I have left?

You can see how many credits you have left by entering your Student Area and clicking ‘My Prepaid Credits’.

Can you send me an Attendance Certificate for my classes?

Absolutely. Please contact us via email to request an Attendance Certificate and we will email it to you, either after the completion of your pack of classes or after a certain number of hours of classes.
