Listening Exercise: Welcome to the Future

Back to The Future Listening Exercise

This week we’re looking to the future… to 2015, to be precise! If you’re a fan of the Back to the Future Trilogy, you will be aware that in Back to the Future II, Doc Brown, Marty McFly and his Girlfriend Jennifer go 30 years into the future, to the year 2015. The future is now!

Apart from being one of my favourite movies, this gives us the opportunity to see how we envisaged the future back in the 80s, and although our cars are not yet flying, we can see some predictions about the future that did come true (technology such as Google Glasses, videoconferencing on flat screens, and biometrics).
 

This week’s listening exercise is a news article from ABC news, which looks at some of the predictions from the movie that did come true.
