Top 10 Intermediate Expressions Using GET in English

Hey! How are you doing? This is Greg from OnlineLanguageAcademy.com and in this video, YOU are going to use 10 different expressions that use "get"... so keep watching!  

Somebody asked me last week if I could use 10 different expressions using get in one sentence and... no, I probably can't.

But I am going to use 10 different sentences using 10 different expressions that use get and after every one I'm going to ask you a question.

If you answer each question and use the word get you will have successfully used 10 different expressions using get, you will have used them in your context to make it easier for you to remember, and you can be very proud of that so you can write them in the comments below, you can write some in the comments below, or you can just do it privately.

It doesn't matter, the most important thing is that you do it, you use the expressions and you internalise the meanings.

- I got 15 e-mails today and 10 of them were spam. How many emails did you get today?  

- I went to the supermarket today and I got a spoon! Yes I got a spoon from the supermarket today. Where did you get the t-shirt / shirt you are wearing? Where did you get your clothes? Supermarket? The City center? Amazon?

  - I got my first job when I was 17 years old as a waiter in an Italian restaurant. How old were you when you got your first job?    - I got my degree in French at the University of Canterbury in England. What's the highest level certificate that you have got? 

- You can get a present, so... My daughter got this when she was born from her uncle.  

- I got home (get = arrive), I got home last night at 11 o'clock. I had been to the cinema and I got home at 11 o'clock. What time did you get home yesterday? What time did you get home from work or from...? What time did you get home yesterday?  

- I usually get together with my friends on Friday nights. I've worked all week I want a drink, I want to see my friends... we get together and we go for a drink. When was the last time you got together with your family?  

 - I had a little cold last week, but thankfully I'm getting better now. I'm getting better. I'm improving, I'm getting better now.  

 - And finally I got married in Santiago de Compostela in Spain to a Spanish girl. In your opinion, what is the best age to get married? How old were you when you got married?

 There you go, 10 expressions using get so use them, put them into your context and I promise you, they will be easier to remember and easier to internalise if you do that.
