Lesson Notes - English Vocabulary in Context

Here is the key English vocabulary from the conversation lesson, with an example of each word in context:

* Make a wish

E.g.  If I ever make a wish, I wish for other people.  

* Shooting star

E.g.  Look for a shooting star and make a wish.  

* Not at all!  

E.g. - Do you mind helping me? -  Not at all!  

* Things that money can't buy

E.g. Money can'y buy love or happiness.  

* To be lucky

E.g. You have to be lucky to have a healthy family and good  friends.  

* True happiness

E.g. Living your life with purpose and meaning are the keys to true happiness


⭐️ 2nd Conditional in English

* If + past simple... / would...


If I had three wishes, I would wish for health and happiness.

If I told you my wishes, they wouldn't come true.

A) Grammar construction 1:  I would wish for + noun


I would wish for a big car.

B) Grammar construction 2:  I would wish for + someone/something + to do something

I would wish for the election results to be different.
